Jan 17, 2012: Minor girl raped and murdered allegedly by landlord

FARIDABAD: A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by her landlord in Faridabad on Sunday.
Police sources said the accused, Inder Singh, is now on the run. They said the father of the victim ran a food joint in Garhi locality and was assisted by his wife in the business.
On Sunday afternoon, the victim was playing with her brother while her parents were away for work, the police said. Inder lured the victim into his room on some pretext, the sources said.
In the evening the family realized that their daughter was missing. The distraught parents started a frantic search for her. They found her body lying in a pool of blood in a public toilet at a nearby street, the sources said. The police were called in and a team reached the place where the body was found.
The team comprising deputy commissioner of police Kuldip Singh Sivach, ACP Kuldip Singh Yadav and SHO Vijay Singh begun investigations in which they were initially assisted by the accused. A dog squad and forensic experts were also brought in to nab the killer, the sources said. Inder fled after he was named as a suspect in the case, the sources said. A case has been registered, the police said.

Jan 17, 2012: Angry ex-husband bites off woman's lips

AHMEDABAD: While Amadvadis were busy flying and cutting kites on Uttarayan and vaasi-Uttarayan, on Sunday an angry ex-husband chomped off his wife's lips and beat her black and blue when she refused to compromise and come back to him.
Pushpa Dhantayan, 27, is admitted in VS Hospital for plastic surgery after her husband bit off a significant part of her lip and spat the flesh out on the road. "Pushpa has lost one third of her right upper and lower lip as well the corner of the mouth. We will have to reconstruct the lips so that she can eat and hold her saliva, which are the prime functions of the lips apart from adding to the aesthetics of the face", said head of plastic surgery at VS Dr Vijay Bhatia.
The surgery will be performed in the next two days. "Since Pushpa has been bitten by a human there are chances of bacterial infection. Hence we have put her on antibiotics before the surgery", Dr Bhatia said.
Pushpa's ill-luck with marriage has continued. Pushpa told TOI that she had first married eight years ago and was divorced after the birth of a son. She fended for her son by working as a domestic help. Five months ago, she met Jeetu Rajput, an auto-rickshaw driver and decided to marry him.
Just a month into the marriage, she realized that Rajput was a drunkard and a woman-beater. She divorced him in ten days and went back to her parents' home in Vasna. On Uttarayan, Jeetu came to meet her and asked her to come back to him. She refused saying that since they were divorced, there was no point in even having such a discussion.
"Jeetu came back drunk on Sunday. He clamped his hand over my mouth and shoved me into a ricksshaw. He then hit me and bit me on the back as well as the mouth. He has chewed off the right side of my lips. Doctors say I will have to remain admitted for a major surgery", Pushpa, who is able to speak, told TOI. She was accompanied by her son Hritik and her father Ashokwho supported her through the ordeal.

Jan 16, 2012: Man arrested for burning wife to death

Thane: A farm laborer from Manor in Palghar taluka of the district has been arrested on the charges of burning his wife to death, Thane rural police said today. 
The arrested has been identified as Mangesh Valya Bhutkade (25), who lived with his wife Deepika (23) and a two-year-old child in Virat Khadki Pada of Palghar, PSI S K Jamadar of the Manor police station said. 
Mangesh had an altercation with his wife last Monday, after she refused to give him money for drinking, which he usually used to demand. In a fit of anger, he poured kerosene on her and set her on fire, Jamadar said. 
Deepika sustained burn injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she succumbed to injuries on Saturday, police said. 
The accused has been booked under sections 302 and 427 of the IPC. Further investigations are on. 

Jan 16, 2012: Denied booze money, man sets mom on fire

MUMBAI: A 25-year-old man set his mother on fire after she refused to give him Rs 30 to buy liquor. The woman, Nirmala Tukaram Jingare (50), sustained 40% burn injuries and is admitted to a hospital in Mulund. Her condition is said to be critical. The incident occurred in Bhandup(W) on Saturday around 7.15pm.
The accused, Rupesh Tukaram Jingare, has been arrested and booked for attempt to murder. Rupesh was drunk at the time of the incident.
"A school dropout, Rupesh is unemployed and has been drinking regularly for the last five years," said inspector S Bargude of the Bhandup police station. "He does odd jobs and spends most of his days wandering about with local boys."

Jan 16, 2012: Man booked for biting wife's cheek

INDORE: A man was booked on charge of allegedly biting his wife's cheek.

The accused, Suresh Ajmera, allegedly bit his wife, Sangita's cheek over a petty issue on Saturday.

Police said Suresh was angry with his wife for sending their teenaged son to market. When he began using foul language, she protested. This made him furious and he allegedly bit her cheek.

The victim, Sangita Ajmera, approached the Malharganj police with bleeding cheek on Saturday night.

When the 40-year-old woman approached the Malharganj police with bleeding cheek, the police booked Suresh Ajmera under sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by using dangerous weapon or means), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 294 (obscene acts and songs to the annoyance of others) of the IPC.

The victim was sent for treatment and investigations are on.

Jan 16, 2012: 14-year-old girl gangraped

VARANASI: A 14-year-old girl was gangraped by some youths allegedly belonging to a 'Nutt gypsy group' camping in Purfaguhi area under Machhalishehar police station limits in Jaunpur district on Saturday night.
According to reports, the girl had gone to a field near her residence when three youths also entered the field and raped her. On hearing her cries, her uncle ran towards the field. But before he could reach there, the rapists fled. Girl's family lodged a named FIR in this connection. All the accused youths were absconding. Police were investigating the matter.

Jan 15, 2012: Teenage girl raped, set on fire in UP

FATEHPUR (UP): A teenage girl was allegedly abducted, raped and set afire by four youths in Khekhreru area here, police said on Sunday.

The 17-year-old girl was admitted to a hospital where her condition was stated to be critical, DIG B P Jogdand said.

The teenager was allegedly abducted, raped and later set on fire by four youths who were absconding, he said.

A hunt had been launched to nab the four, the DIG said. In another incident, body of a 17-year-old girl, who was missing since December 31, 2010, was found in Malwa area here.

She was allegedly criminally assaulted, police said.

Jan 15, 2012: 35-year-old arrested for raping minor

GURGAON: The Gurgaon police arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly raping a minor on Friday. He was sent to judicial custody on Saturday. The accused was known to the victim's family and lured the 12-year-old girl out of her home near Kapashera border on Friday morning after which he took her to Delhi and committed the crime. A medical examination has confirmed rape.

The victim lived with her family in a rented accommodation in Dundahera and was a student of Class 4. However, the girl was alone at home when the accused came to visit them on Friday. The girl was playing outside her rented accommodation when the accused, identified as Anwar, a native of Bihar, lured her and took her away to Delhi. When the girl did not return home till late afternoon, her father raised an alarm and started looking for her. He then approached the Udyog Vihar police station where a complaint of missing person was lodged. The Delhi police, meanwhile, nabbed the accused while he was trying to escape and informed their Gurgaon counterparts.

Jan 15, 2012: Dad held for raping girl repeatedly

NEW DELHI: A man has been arrested for allegedly repeatedly raping his daughter. The 37-year-old man, employed with a private company, was held after his wife, a primary school teacher, complained to cops. A medical examination of the 13-year-old girl, a resident of RK Puram, has confirmed rape, sources said.

According to sources at the Sarojini Nagar police station, the victim's mother noticed something amiss with her daughter as the girl was avoiding the father and keeping to herself. Questioned, the girl said the father had been raping her for the past fortnight in the mother's absence.

A rape case has been filed and cops are probing "how long he had been carrying on with the physical abuse", said the investigating officer.

Last year's statistics show cases of rape and molestation have risen significantly compared to 2010. Commissioner B K Gupta has said almost 98% of the rape offenders are known the victims.

COIMBATORE: In a bizarre incident, a woman allegedly poured boiling groundnut oil on her husband's head following a quarrel over trivial issues, in a village near Avinashi on Wednesday evening. The condition of 42-year-old C Rangasamy, who sustained more than 60% burn injuries, remains critical. He is admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital while his wife is absconding.
According to the Avinashi police, C Rangasamy of Kallankattupudur is a real estate agent. Around 3.30pm on Wednesday, an altercation erupted between Rangasamy and his wife R Radha (38) after he returned home from work. As he was tired, he retired to bed, asking his wife to bring him a cup of tea. As she made the tea, he fell asleep.
Radha boiled groundnut oil and poured it on the head of the sleeping Rangasamy. As he cried for help, she snatched his mobile phone and left home, locking the door from outside. She went to her mother's house in Avinashi town. As the house was located in an isolated area, Rangasamy was not able to receive immediate help. He had to break free through the roof. His brother-in-law Rakkiappan immediately took him to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where he is recovering.
Meanwhile, judicial magistrate L S Sathiyamurthy recorded a statement from Rangasamy at the hospital on Thursday. In the statement, Rangasamy admitted that he often quarrelled with his wife over petty issues.
Avinashi police have registered a case against Radha under section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of Indian Penal Code on Thursday. "After pouring the boiled oil on her husband, Radha went absconding. Our team went to her parent's house but failed to locate her. We will arrest her soon," Avinashi police inspector K Kaliannan said. The couple has two sons- R Pavithran (9) and R Raju (8).
