BHOPAL: An inter-state gang allegedly involved in trafficking of tribal minor girls from Betul district of Madhya Pradesh to Rajasthan was busted with the arrest of eight persons, including two women hailing from that state, and rescued four teenagers on Wednesday. The girls were to be sold and forced into prostitution.
Police laid its hand on the gang after one Guddu Ojha lodged a complaint that four girls have gone missing from the Ganj police station area on March 29, police said.
After getting clues, the Betul police rescued two girls, Rani, 11 and Chanda, 11, from Peethpura in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan. They girls told the police the they along with two other girls, Mangla, 15 and Nupur, 9, were allegedly lured by one Kiran Singh Tanwar and his accomplice Prem Bai with a bright future.
The four girls, all friends and belonging to different families living in abject poverty, had left their homes for Hoshangabad in search of a job when they met the duo, who promised them with jobs in Rajasthan, police said.
Rani and Chanda told police that Mangla and Nupur had been sold to one Kallulal, a resident of Bhawani Mandi in Jhalawar for Rs 65,000. On their information, Puja and Bharti were freed from the clutches of the accused. Kiran and Prem Bai were making bids to sell Laxmi and Raksha as well, police said. Mangla alleged that Kallu had raped her.
Kiran and Prem Bai, Kallu, Raju, Shyamlal, Dropadi Bai, Jagdish, Champalal have been arrested on charges of rape, human trafficking and selling minors for prostitution and others charges. The accused have been booked under Schedule Caste and Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, police said.
