COIMBATORE: A 24-year-old man was arrested by Vadavalli police on Friday for attempting to slit the throat of a female relative during a failed molestation bid. The woman is now recovering at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
The man has been identified as M Rajesh, a native of Earal near Tuticorin. He was remanded in judicial custody later. According to police, Rajesh was working at a paper mart owned by his cousin Periyasamy at Vadavalli. On Thursday evening, he went to Periyasamy's house located near the Marudhamalai Main Road to meet with him. However, only his wife Sindhu (23) was home alone. When Sindhu refused his sexual advances, Periyasamy became furious. He grabbed a knife from the kitchen and attacked her. Sindhu sustained injuries on her neck. On hearing her cries for help, neighbours rushed to the spot, but Periyasamy managed to escape. Police arrested him from Vadavalli on Friday.
