JAIPUR: A ward boy at SMS Hospital was arrested on Tuesday for outraging the modesty of a 25-year-old girl whose father is undergoing treatment. The girl alleged that the ward boy had taken her mobile charger and misbehaved with her while returning it early in the morning.
According to SHO, Motidungari Hariram Kumawat, the accused, Sitaram Goswami, was on night duty. "The girl was attending her father who is undergoing treatment at the hospital. She says that while returning the charger, Sitaram held her hand and then misbehaved with her. She raised an alarm following which the hospital administration informed the police," said the officer.
A police team was immediately rushed to the hospital and took Sitaram into custody. Sitaram told police that it was a misunderstanding and he did not mean to misbehave with the girl.
"Sitaram has been booked under Section 354 of the IPC (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty)," the officer said. The police said the statement of the girl has been taken.
"Further investigation is on," the officer added.
