BHOPAL: A 15-year-old girl committed suicide in Raisen district after two youths from her village allegedly attempted to rape her. The incident occurred in Rajpura village in the Gerathgunj police station area, 100 kms from the state capital. Police have arrested one of the two accused while the other is absconding.
BHOPAL: A 15-year-old girl committed suicide in Raisen district after two youths from her village allegedly attempted to rape her. According to the police, the victim girl - a student of class VIII-- was going to school on Thursday morning when two youths from her village caught her near a temple in an isolated spot outside the hamlet. The culprits, identified as Sunil Kushwah(18) and Sheru Kushwah(17) are students of class XI. They allegedly forced the girl on the ground and tried to rape her when the victim's cries for help brought villagers to her rescue.
As residents of the village rushed to help the girl, the miscreants slapped and beat her and then escaped with her 'dupatta'. The girl's mother had gone to attend a religious programme and her father works as a mason in Bhopal. Following the incident, the girl refused to attend school on Thursday and went back home upset and distraught. That evening neighbours found her hanging by the neck from the ceiling of her hutment.
The victim's father reached the village on Friday and alleged she must have been raped or would not have taken such a drastic step. The father took the complaint to the local police and demanded that a case of rape be registered against the youths.
Superintendent of police (Raisen) Shashikant Shukla said: A case has been registered under sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 34 (common intention) against the accused youths. Sheru Kushwah has been arrested while Sunil is absconding. The girl's body was sent for post-mortem and medical examination. The medical examination report is awaited and if rape of any kind of atrocity on the girl is found in the report, more relevant sections will be added to the case.''Link: School girl commits suicide after attempted rape
