CHENNAI: The Tiruvallur police on Tuesday arrested three youths on charges of attempting to rape a 17-year-old class 12 student and throwing her into a well in R K Pet near Pallipattu in Tiruvallur district on July 13. The police said the youths had confessed to the crime
The incident came to light after some villagers spotted the girl's body in the well and informed the police. The police said the deceased, a resident of Eknapuram village, did not return home after tuition on Monday by 9pm.
Her parents registered a case and the police detained a few youths in connection. The investigation finally zeroed in on the trio.
