KANPUR: A 20-year-old newly married woman was murdered by her in-laws for dowry on Monday night.
She was identified as Soni, wife of Sunil, a resident of Girja Nagar in Chakeri.
The residents of the area spotted the body lying on the railway tracks located near her in-laws house. The body was identified as that of Soni who got married to Sunil two-and-a-half months back.
According to the her father Ram Babu, Soni's in-laws were continuously harassing her for a two-wheeler. She was killed when he failed to give a motorcycle as dowry.
Soni's in-laws dumped the body on the railway track to give it a colour of suicide.
An FIR has been lodged with the Chakeri police against Sunil and others.
The police said that the accused have been arrested and further investigations are underway.
