RAJKOT: The 17-year-old girl, who had committed suicide on February 27 at her residence in Nagdhaniba village of Bhavnagar district, was raped by her neighbour on February 26.
A complaint was filed by victim's father at Vartej police station on Wednesday night, alleging that her daughter committed suicide because she was raped by Mukesh Koli.
Koli is a resident of the same village. "She feared that she would not be able to live a dignified life in future after she was raped so she took the extreme step,'' the complaint stated.
Vartej police station officials said that on the day when accused raped her, there was a marriage function in the family and victim's father did not inform the police and kept mum about the incident. After the function was over, they filed a police complaint. Victim told her father that she was raped by Mukesh on February 26, the police officials added.
"We have taken the complaint and are investigating the case,'' J R Zala of Vartej police station said.
