Bangalore: In a shocker from Bangalore a 60-year-old man died while trying to protect his niece from eve teasers. Alagesh suffered a heart attack after he was assaulted by 2 men for objecting to eve teasing of his 14 year old niece. Reuben Fernandes, Keenan Santos and now Alagesh...they were killed for doing what few would dare to do; raising their voice against eve teasing.
60-year-old alagesh stood up to two local hooligans after they followed his 14 yr old niece home, all the while jeering and misbehaving with her, forcing her uncle to intervene. The intervention cost him his life and although the hooligans who pushed this man to death have been arrested. The 14-year-old girl is yet to come to terms with the death of her uncle who died trying to protect her.
In a case of eve-teasing gone wrong 60-year old alagesh died of a heart attack after being assaulted by two youths on the night of 30th April, after he questioned them for teasing his niece. The two have since been apprehended and a case of culpable homicide booked against them, but the family of the deceased are calling for strict punishment to prevent such incidents in the future.
Reuben, Keenan & Alagesh died while doing the right thing, but despite the nationwide outrage instance after instance of such incidents only emphasises the need for an iron fist to curb the menace of eve teasing.
