TNN | May 20, 2013, 03.41 AM IST
HYDERABAD: A 35-year-old woman home guard was found murdered at a private office in Nallakunta on Sunday. The victim was identified as G Suneeta, wife of Mangilal from Kothapet, who works as an attender at Astalakshmi temple in Kothapet.

On Sunday morning, businessmen who have their offices in the two-storeyed building opposite the Fever Hospital, complained to the police about a foul smell emanating from a locked AMS Job Consultancy office on the first floor.

The Nallakunta police broke open the office door and found the naked, semi-decomposed body of a woman. Based on the cellphone records and other documents found near the body, the police were able to identify the victim as Suneeta.

During the initial probe, Mangilal told the cops that Suneeta was missing since she left the house on May 15.

"We saw strangulation marks on the neck of the victim and the body has been shifted for post-mortem. Suneeta's family members claim she was a home guard. We are yet to ascertain where she used to work," Nallakunta inspector V Jaipal Reddy said.

Police suspect that the victim could have been sexually assaulted prior to her death. They are currently looking for the job consultancy owners, Vijay Kumar and George, with whom the victim reportedly had an affair.

"A case was registered under section 302 (Murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The two are absconding and we have launched a manhunt to nab them," the inspector said.

, TNN | May 1, 2013, 05.08AM IST
NEW DELHI: The Class XII girl from Mangolpuri who was found dead in her friend's rented apartment in Rohini was strangulated. Arif, who was arrested for raping and kidnapping the girl, has now been charged with murder.

"The autopsy report confirmed death by strangulation. During interrogation, Arif broke down and confessed to his crime," said M A Rizvi, additional DCP (outer). The girl's family, however, claimed that they had to run for pillar and post to pursue the case, which cops tried to pass off as suicide.

"The postmortem was carried out on Saturday, but the cops never believed us when we said that our daughter was murdered. We refused to take her body until the murder section was added to the FIR," said the father.

Arif, police said, was planning the murder for several days. "He didn't approve of her being friendly with other boys. So he decided to bump her off. He took inspiration from Shahrukh Khan-starrer Baazigar, where his character had murdered his first girlfriend and made it appear as a suicide. Arif made her sign a suicide note, but removed it after killing her," said an investigator.

Police said the 32-year-old victim, who was a passenger of the Brahmaputra Mail that was travelling to the national capital, was dragged to the mango orchard and allegedly gang-raped by unidentified persons after she alighted from the train between Vikramshila and Kahalgaon stations.

She was strangulated and her body hung from a tree late last night. Police recovered the body today and sent it to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital in Bhagalpur for post-mortem.

The girl was allegedly raped by the accused in December last. Subsequently, the girl's father had lodged a case in this regard with the district's Lalauli police station alleging that Narvada Nishad had raped his daughter. The matter was sub-judice.

Village sources said about a week ago, the accused had threatened the victim and her family members of dire consequences and pressurized them to withdraw the complaint, but they refused to do so. Moreover, the statement of the rape victim was recorded before a magistrate three days ago.

Police claimed that angered over this, Narvada Nishad barged into the girl's house when her parents were away at work. Radha, who was sitting near the main entrance of her house, tried to run inside but the accused pounced upon her and dragged her outside the house.

After brutally assaulting her, he strangled her to death in full public view and escaped.

The rape victim's kin said they had informed the police about the regular "threats" from the accused but they failed to take any action.

Police said a search has been launched for the absconding accused.

Deputy superintendent of police Santosh Kumar Singh said: "A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC. We are on the lookout for the accused and will nab him soon." However, he had no reply when asked why the police didn't take any action on the girl's complaint.

Police said prima facie it seems to be a case of property dispute. A suicide note has been recovered from the scene in which the man has held his in-laws responsible for taking the extreme step.
Police said the matter came to notice when the couple did not open the doors of their room in Anjali Vihar colony. Family members entered the room through the window and were shocked to find the couple dead. The deceased have been identified as Shamsher and Gulshama. Loni police station in-charge, Brijmohan Yadav, said a case has been registered under Section 302 of IPC.

Umar said that on Sunday late night the couple went to their room on the first floor. The family got up on Monday morning at 7am. "I called Shamsher twice from the ground floor but he did not respond. Then I went to the first floor and knocked, but no response was received. I then climbed in through the window and found Gulshama's body on the bed while Shamsher's was hanging from the ceiling fan," said Umar.
Shamsher got married to Gulshama on November 10, 2011. "Later, I fixed Sarfaraz's marriage to a girl whose family lives in Jheel Khureji in Delhi.
