Hyderabad: the police of Andhra Pradesh have arrested the technician who has allegedly opened the fake account in the facebook of his former woman colleague and also for publishing the pictures which is obscene.

U Rammohan the cyber crime SP said that an engineer T Satish who is doing the job with an MNC in the Bangalore on Thursday he was arrested and also the officials from the department of crime seized the hard-disk and the laptop from his possession which is used for the uploading the allegedly images which is obscene of the victim.

At the time of investigation the engineer Satish has confessed that he and the victims have used to do their jobs together in the Hyderabad and within the week they both become very close friends.

The police said that with the victim Satish has taken lot of advantage of his good friendship and later they came to know that he was also blackmailed her that he will give all the approval during her marriage.

Feb 4, 2012: Two minor girls rescued from flesh trade

MUMBAI: Two minor girls forced into prostitution were rescued by the Nalasopara police. Two pimps including a woman have been arrested.

Acting on a tip-off the police disguised as customers and approached a residential apartment in Nalasopara (west). Ishaque Mola (40) and Seema Shaikh (26) escorted the policemen disguised as customers to a room where two minor girls were waiting. The customers were asked to make their choices before the rates would be worked out.

A police team raided the flat and arrested Mola and Shaikh. The girls, aged 14 and 15, told the police that they were brought from West Bengal to Mumbai by Shaikh who had promised to get them jobs in the city. The girls said that they came from poor families and coming to the city was a dream. The girls were provided with food and clothing but not allowed to venture out or speak to their families and neighbours. The girls said that Shaikh had given few hundred rupees to their families with the assurance that lot of cash would be send to them in the coming months.

While Shaikh's job was to track down young girls and bring them to Nalasopara, Mola, the kingpin used to go around getting clients. The police have not ruled out the possibility of minor girls being the prime target.

NEW DELHI: A paraplegic interior designer claimed to have murdered his wife and four-year-old son, and was found lying next to the bodies when the police broke into their bedroom in Rohini, northwest Delhi, in the early hours of Friday.

Nitin Maini (30) also tried to injure himself using a pair of scissors, police said. Nitin told the cops who arrested him that he suspected his wife of being unfaithful. But both families - Nitin's and his wife's - said the wheelchair-bound man couldn't possibly have committed the murders as he could hardly move without help.

The victims, Shweta Maini (24) and Garvappeared to have been strangled, police said. Shweta's father has alleged the hand of Nitin's family in the killings.

Nitin, who became paralysed waist down in a bike accident three years ago, was to shortly receive compensation of Rs 21 lakh.

Shweta and Nitin Maini had defied their families to get married six years ago. "They had to marry in Patiala House courts, and I backed Nitin during their courtship. He loved Shweta immensely and could not have killed her. When he could not even move without help, how could he have committed two murders and then tried to kill himself?" said a friend who did not wish to be named.

The double murder has devastated Nitin's immediate family. His mother, Sushma, had been happy when the couple celebrated their wedding anniversary on Thursday night. Hardly two hours later, her eldest son was in jail for murdering his wife and son, whose darkening bodies lay in the Maini house.

"My grandson Garv was such a jovial child and always used to be with me. He even slept by my side listening to stories at night. My world has shattered. What will we do with the money? I want my children back," she said, crying.

Nitin, the family said, was physically helpless and had to be strapped into his wheelchair. His wife was his pillar of support. Around four months back, she had bagged a job with an NGO for around Rs 8,000 a month. "It was a long commute for her from Rohini to her office near Laxmi Nagar, but our family life had come back on the track with her regular income. This was totally unexpexcted," said a family member. Shweta's family, though, alleged things were not rosy and Nitin's family had conspired to kill the mother and son for the Rs 21 lakh compensation that Nitin had won in an accident claim.

However, the double murder has left cops puzzled. While they could not satisfactorily establish the motive for the murder and went by Nitin's confession alone, they acknowledge the story has far too many holes. Police sources as well as the family members claimed the bodies had turned blue, which suggested that Nitin's claim of having strangled the two may not be true.

Shweta's family's claim that her phone was switched off when they called her up at 11.10pm also throws up new questions. Police sources said there were several possibilities. It could be a case of a suicide pact gone wrong, they said.

The police accepted Nitin's confession at face value but said further investigation is needed. Forensic reports and the postmortem report will let them ascertain the exact facts and the sequence of events.

Valsad: A 72-year old man and his daughter allegedly tried to dispose of the body of his wife, who had apparently died due to ill health, by burning it in their house on Malavyaji Road in Valsad, Gujarat Police said.

Magan Rana and his 44-year-old daughter Kaushal had cut the body of his 70-year old wife into pieces and were burning it in the balcony of their house last night, when the neighbours complained of fire in the house, police said.

The father-daughter duo initially said that they had burnt their cat, which had died. However, during further probe, Magan revealed that the burnt remains were of his wife Savita, who had died on January 29 after prolonged illness.

It has been suspected that the act was a part of some blind faith, police said.

The remains have been sent for postmortem to ascertain if the death was natural or not, police said, adding that following the postmortem report, further course of investigation would be decided.

CHENNAI: In the weekend ahead of Pongal in 2010, 10-year-old Meena (name changed) and her brother, a year older than her, expected to go shopping for new clothes. They were in for a rude shock as their father L Dushyanthan (40), a resident of Althottam in the city, sexually abused his daughter during this period; once in the presence of his son.

Now, he has been found guilty of child rape, criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt and sentenced to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment by R Sethumadhavan, sessions judge, Mahalir Court. He directed that Rs 30,000 be given to the victim from the Rs 30,500 fine imposed on the accused. Additional public prosecutor Gowri Asokan appeared for the state.

The incidents occurred after Dushyanthan's wife Bhuvaneshwari, a domestic help, left him to live in her mother's house at Mettupalayam. She had taken their daughter along.

Bhuvaneshwari said she was unable to cooperate with Dushyanthan as he wouldn't contribute towards the family's upkeep, would often come home drunk and beat her up. He was in the habit of indulging in frequent sexual intercourse, she said.

On January 2, he came to her mother's house saying he wanted to buy new dresses for the children and asked if he could take their daughter with him. After reaching Chennai, he sent his son out to buy tea, locked the door and raped his daughter. Later at night, he raped her again even as his son was sleeping next to him. He threatened the children with harm if they spoke of it to anyone.

Four days later, Meena told Rekha, a relative, about the incidents and was taken to Bhuvaneswari who found bruises, reddishness and blood in the girl's genital region. A case was lodged at the Anna Salai police station.

Observing that it was clear the father had stooped low to satisfy his physical urges, the judge added that Meena's narration of the events was "natural, credit-worthy, corroborated by other witnesses, and further by medical evidence." Concluding that it proved Dushyanthan had raped her, sessions judge R Sethumadhavan said, "this court is not inclined to show any sympathy to the accused," before passing orders on the matter.

HYDERABAD: A computer instructor, who reportedly posted objectionable images of his former wife on the internet, was awarded one-year imprisonment by the VIth additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Nampally court, on Thursday. This is the first conviction in a cyber crime case in the state since the Information Technology Act became operational.

The Crime Investigation Department's Cyber Cellofficials said 30-year-old Sanaulla Faisal, a resident of Kilwat, after getting a divorce in 2003, started posting his former wife's nude photographs on various sites.

"In 2004, the victim lodged a complaint with the CID. After a raid on the software professional's house, we seized his camera and computer. Following a forensic examination, it was confirmed that he uploaded the images," Cyber Crime additional superintendent of police U Ram Mohan said.

Faisal started posting his former wife's profile along with obscene comments on online matrimonial advertisements besides uploading her photos taken when they were a couple. He also sent emails with obscene content to her family members.

He was convicted under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and 506 (Criminal Intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Besides one year imprisonment, he was ordered to pay Rs 12,000 to the victim.

NEW DELHI: It's official - India is the most dangerous place in the world to be a baby girl. Newly released data shows that an Indian girl child aged 1-5 years is 75% more likely to die than an Indian boy, making this the worst gender differential in child mortality for any country in the world.

Infant (0-1 years) and child (1-5 years) mortality are declining in India and across the world, though not as fast as was hoped in India. Simultaneously, most of the world is experiencing a faster fall in female infant and child mortality than in male, on account of well established biological factors which make girls better survivors of early infancy given equal access to resources. The world's two most populous countries, however, buck this trend.

Newly released United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs ( UN-DESA) data for 150 countries over 40 years shows that India and China are the only two countries in the world where female infant mortality is higher than male infant mortality in the 2000s. In China, there are 76 male infant deaths for every 100 female infant deaths compared with 122 male infant deaths for every 100 female infant deaths in the developing world as a whole.

The released data has found that India has a better infant mortality sex ratio than China, with 97 male infant deaths for every 100 female, but this is still not in tune with the global trend, or with its neighbours Sri Lanka (125) or Pakistan (120).

When it comes to the child mortality sex ratio, however, India is far and away the world's worst. In the 2000s, there were 56 male child deaths for every 100 female, compared with 111 in the developing world. This ratio has got progressively worse since the 1970s in India, even as Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Egypt and Iraq improved.

The UN report is clear that high girl child mortality is explained by socio-cultural values. So strong is the biological advantage for girls in early childhood that higher mortality among girls should be seen as "a powerful warning that differential treatment or access to resources is putting girls at a disadvantage", the report says.

"Higher female mortality from age 1 onwards clearly indicated sustained discrimination," says P Arokiasamy, professor of development studies at Mumbai's International Institute for Population Studies, who has studied gender differentials in child mortality in India. "Such neglect and discrimination can be in three areas: food and nutrition, healthcare and emotional wellbeing. Of these, neglect of the healthcare of the girl child is the most direct determinant of mortality," says Arokisamy. Studies have shown that health-related neglect may involve waiting longer before taking a sick girl to a doctor than a sick boy, and is also reflected in lower rates of immunization for girls than boys.

Moreover, since the outrage over India's poor child sex ratio came out of census data for children aged 0-6 years, the UN data on child mortality indicates that a campaign against female foeticide alone is not a complete solution. "Pre-natal and post-natal discrimination are complementarily contributing to gender imbalance," agrees Dr Arokiasamy. While pre-natal discrimination in the form of sex-selective abortions is more common among better educated upper income households, post-natal discrimination or neglect is more common among poorer, less educated rural households, he adds.

Feb 2, 2012: One held for raping tribal woman

KEONJHAR: A 50-year-old man was arrested by Keonjhar police on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 25-year-old pregnant tribal woman. The man was identified as Maharag Giri of village Kasipal in Jhumpura police station area. The woman is eight months pregnant.

"The incident took place on January 21, but FIR was lodged on Tuesday. After medical examination, the accused was sent to court," said IIC (Jhumpura) Tilottama Mohanata.

According to the complaint, the accused went to the house of the victim in Talahundula village on January 21 with some cakes, when her husband had gone outside. He identified himself as a friend of her husband, and raped her.

After the incident, the husband of the victim allegedly drove her out of the house. The illiterate woman lodged a complaint with Jhumpura police on Tuseday, on the advice of village elderlies.

MUMBAI: The DNA samples collected from the body of a minor girl, who was raped and murdered here in mid- 2010, have matched with those of the accused, the trial court was informed today.

Javed Sheikh, a cable operator, is accused of raping and murdering an eight-year-old girl in Nehru Nagar in suburban Kurla, which was rocked by three such cases involving minors in early 2010. Sheikh was arrested in July that year in one of these cases.

The expert, who examined the samples, told the court that DNA tests conducted on nail clippings of the victim and other body parts matched with the DNA of Sheikh, said Special public prosecutor Pradeep Gharat.

The 21-year-old's DNA sample matched with the stains found on the victim, whose body was recovered on June 19, 2010 after she went missing for two weeks, he said.

Police filed a chargesheet against the accused in a sessions court here in August 2010. The 325-page document consisted statements of around 45 witnesses and forensic reports.

NEW DELHI: The post-crime trauma suffered by a teenage rape victim and her family members and the state's apathy to their plight has shocked a Delhi court, prompting it to order Rs one lakh as interim compensation to her.

Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau expressed shock after finding that the victim had tried to commit suicide by consuming acid, leading to replacement of her food pipe with an artificial one while her father suffered two heart attacks and her mother had to work as a maid to sustain the family with no state aid whatsoever.

"I'm shocked to observe that despite this pathetic state of the victim and her family, who, I find, are feeling a sense of physical and psychological isolation, no assistance has been provided to her by the state," the judge observed, ordering Delhi Government to award her the compensation, noting the vegetative state the victim has reduced to.

"The victim, who was hardly 14 year old at the time of incident, has now been virtually reduced to a vegetable existence after she consumed acid pursuant to the incident.

"Rape of a minor not only affects her but has also a devastative impact on her entire family, which equally suffers in silence as has happened in the present case," the court said.

The court's order came after the girl's mother approached it along with her daughter to narrate their woes in the wake of the girl's rape and to apprise it of their inability and unwillingness to fight the case and seek justice.
