MUMBAI: The Mulund police arrested Hanif Shaikh (38) for molesting his 15-year-old daughter at their Mulund Colony home on Monday night. The accused , who is a skilled labourer, was caught red-handed while misbehaving with his elder daughter and was arrested the next day.
Police said a drunk Shaikh returned from work around 7pm. After dinner, the accused, his wife and their four children including the victim, slept in their one-room tenement.
The victimas mother told the police that her husband had threatened her to keep quiet while he misbehaved with his daughter. On Monday morning the victimas mother lodged a complaint with the police.
On learning his wife approached the police, Shaikh went into hiding in the locality but was nabbed later.
Mulund police senior inspector Jivajirao Jadhav confirmed the incident.
Shaikh has been booked for outraging the modesty of a woman. He will be produced before the Mulund metropolitan magistrate court onWednesday.
Police said this was the first time her father misbehaved with her.
