RAIPUR: Police have intensified a hunt for a youth who threw acid on four minor girls at Kotmera village in Raigarh district.
The four injured siblings are now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Raigarh where the condition of two of them was reported to be serious. "The sisters aged between 4-16 years suffered burn injuries when an unidentified youth threw acid on them on Saturday night at Kotmara village, 25km from Raigarh district headquarters, in Pusour area," Praphull Thakur, additional superintendent of police said. "They were admitted to Raigarh Metro Hospital," he added.
The minor school girls were returning after attending a religious programme when the youth threw acid on them and escaped. The assailant had covered his face with a scarf. Thakur said some old enmity could be the reason, and a youth had been taken into custody on suspicion and was being interrogated.
