On Sunday morning, Anju Sahu, a resident of Seesamau Bada Chauraha area, was standing in front of her house when three youths identified as Deepak, Sushil and Kapil of her locality passed lewd remarks at her. Anju's father, who had rushed to the spot at the time of the incident, said when his daughter tried to resist them, they tried to tear her clothes and molested her. Later, they hit her on the head with iron rods.Anju was admitted to a private hospital in Swaroop Nagar area where she has been shifted to the intensive care unit. Later, a complaint was lodged with the Bajariya police naming the accused. Police had not yet arrested any of the accused till the time of filing this report.According to the victim's brother, Prashant Sahu, the three youths had been teasing his sister for a long time. "Whenever she was out of the house, they passed indecent comments at her," he said, adding that the accused are notorious persons from the Bajariya area and has been booked by police on earlier occasions too.
It has also come to the fore that the victim had made futile attempts to lodge complaint against Deepak, Sushil and Kapil a few months ago but Bajariya cops did not listen. Superintendent of police Bharat Singh said they were investigating the matter.
Father, sons, get life imprisonment for murder: The additional district and session judge IX of Kanpur Dehat Mukesh Mishra on Saturday convicted a father and his three sons in a murder case and sentenced them to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5000 on each.
The sentenced persons were identified as Ram Prakash and his three sons Ganesh, Umesh and Dinesh, all residents of village Patkapur under Chobeypur police station. According to the prosecution version, Dinesh was married to Kanchan, daughter of Sri Narayan, a resident of Khanpur Khadia in Kannauj district on January 25, 2007. After the marriage, Dinesh and his family members were not satisfied with the gifts and dowry given to them at the time of marriage. They started torturing Kanchan, demanding more money. To satisfy them, Sri Narayan gave them Rs 50,000. But Dinesh and his family were not satisfied with that either and made demands for more.On June 26, 2009 Kanchan informed her father that things were not in her favour and she expressed that her life was in danger. Next day, Sri Narayan, his brother Ramanand, son Rajan and two other persons rushed to Dinesh's house. As soon as they reached, Dinesh, his brothers and father armed with lathis and sharp-edged weapons thrashed them severely. Villagers saved them and rushed all the injured to the hospital. During treatment, Ramanand, succumbed to his injuries.
