MANSA (PUNJAB): Mansa police has booked four members of a family for the death of newly married woman under mysterious circumstances. The family members of dead girl, Sandeep Kaur, have alleged that her in-laws used to harass her for dowry and that it had disturbed her enough to commit suicide.
Police has booked Sandeep's husband Sher Singh, mother-in-law Lachho Kaur and two sisters-in-law.
Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Sangat Kalan village in Bathinda district, told police that he had married off his daughter to Sher Singh of Mansa five months ago back and her in-laws harassed her for dowry. "Only recently had I gone to Mansa to leave my daughter at her in-laws place, as they had sent her packing to my place after beating her up," he said and added that Sandeep had visited them on Sunday. "In the morning, we came to know that the previous night her in-laws beat her up and, disturbed over it, she committed suicide," he said.
Mansa DSP Sulakhan Singh said a case has been registered against Sher Singh, his mother and two sisters on the complaint of Sandeep's mother Sarabjit Kaur.
