GHAZIABAD: A man attempted to silt his wife's throat over a tiff regarding domestic issues in Khoda Colony of Ghaziabad. However, when he failed to do so, he threw acid on her face and private parts to kill her. The victim lost consciousness and was dumped near a railway track in Vijay Nagar with her husband thinking that she had died. She was later found by local residents and taken to a hospital by the police. Later, she was referred to GTB hospital in east Delhi where she is fighting for her life. The accused is at large.
Ghaziabad SSP SS Yadav said locals spotted the victim near Gaushala railway crossing on Thursday morning. Cops took her to the district hospital. Later in the afternoon, she was referred to GTB Hospital.
The victim had gained consciousness for some time to narrate her nightmarish tale. Yadav said the victim, Seema, is the wife of one Manoj. "The victim and her husband used to fight over domestic issues. She told us how her husband tried to slit her throat and, failing, threw acid on her," Yadav said.
The accused is a native of Etawah and was living in a rented accommodation. "We have lodged an FIR against the victim's husband and a manhunt has been launched," said a police officer.
