GHAZIABAD: A man strangled his wife to death and then committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in Loni area in Ghaziabad. Police said prima facie it seems to be a case of property dispute. A suicide note has been recovered from the scene in which the man has held his in-laws responsible for taking the extreme step.
Police said the matter came to notice when the couple did not open the doors of their room in Anjali Vihar colony. Family members entered the room through the window and were shocked to find the couple dead. The deceased have been identified as Shamsher and Gulshama. Loni police station in-charge, Brijmohan Yadav, said a case has been registered under Section 302 of IPC.
Shamsher lived with his father Mohammed Umar, a native of Baghpat, and brother Sarfaraz.
Umar said that on Sunday late night the couple went to their room on the first floor. The family got up on Monday morning at 7am. "I called Shamsher twice from the ground floor but he did not respond. Then I went to the first floor and knocked, but no response was received. I then climbed in through the window and found Gulshama's body on the bed while Shamsher's was hanging from the ceiling fan," said Umar.
Shamsher got married to Gulshama on November 10, 2011. "Later, I fixed Sarfaraz's marriage to a girl whose family lives in Jheel Khureji in Delhi. However, Gulshama's father Hakimuddin did not see eye to eye with Sarfaraz's father-in-law due to some dispute and used to intervene in personal issues," Umar said.
"Hakimuddin wanted the entire property to be given to his daughter," Umar further alleged. Refuting this allegation, Hakimuddin said, "Shamsher's family is levelling baseless allegations and instead used to demand dowry from me."Link: Man commits suicide after strangling wife
