KANPUR: In a shocking incident, a man brutally attacked his 60-year-old mother and pierced one of her eyes after she allegedly did not permit him to bring his wife back from his in-laws house on late Wednesday evening.
The accused - identified as Rajendra, a resident of Barra Vishwa Bank - has been arrested.
Admitted to Urasala hospital's emergency ward, the condition of the woman identified as Bittan Devi was stated to be stable.
According to an eye surgeon, an emergency operation was carried on one of the eyes but whether she would be able to see would be known only in a few days time.
The incident occurred in the evening of Wednesday in Barra Vishwa Bank colony under Barra police station when Rajendra entered into a scuffle with his mother Bittan Devi, who did not permit him to bring his wife back home from his in-laws place.
Later, he attacked her with a sharp-edged knife and pierced one of her eyes. An FIR for attempt to murder was registered at Barra police station under appropriate sections of the IPC.
