AHMEDABAD: A woman was thrown out of her residence by her in-laws in Sola. Police have registered a case of harassment and dowry seeking, and have started a search for the accused.

According to Sola police, Daksha Joshi, a nurse with a private hospital in Vastrapur, married the hospital's housekeeping contractor Mamlesh Joshi six years ago after a love affair. According to her complaint, the initial years of the marriage were peaceful as some of her in-laws shifted to London to find a foothold.

"Her in-laws started harassing her to get money for visa applications and other expenses. In 2009, her husband lost Rs 3 lakh in the stock market and he asked her to contribute. Recently, the family members led by her father-in-law Janak Joshi, consulted an astrologer to find a solution to their financial lean period. According to her complaint, her in-laws said she had brought bad luck and thus should not be allowed to live in the house," said a Sola police official.

Police registered a case against Mamlesh Joshi, his father Janak and brother Archit, all residents of Sambhavi Apartment near Satadhar crossroads for the complaint.
