MAHBUBNAGAR: A 'mentally unsound' man created a flutter by killing a three-year-old girl by hurling stones at her at YadullaBavithanda in Midjilmandal in the district on Friday.
According to villagers, Patya Naik, 38, who was allegedly suffering from poor mental health, had been behaving strangely for the last 20 days. He hails from the same thanda. He had been attacking passersby for the last few days.
On Friday, he targeted the three-year-old girl, Rajeshwari, who was playing outside her house. He hit the girl with stones injuring her grievously. He also used abusive language against the villagers. The girl died on the spot.
Local youths caught hold of Naik and handed him over to the police, but not before strong resistance from the attacker.
