MUMBAI: A 22-year-old small-time television actress has filed a molestation case against a former traffic warden. The accused had introduced himself as a cop and was pestering the victim to marry him.
According to the Navghar police in Bhayander (E), the victim, Salma, (name changed), a Mira Road resident, met Yusuf Pathan (35), who used to work as a traffic warden near the Golden Nest junction in Mira Road, six months ago at the Thane RTO.
Pathan introduced himself as a cop attached to the Kashimira police station and helped her get documents for her newly-purchased two-wheeler. He stayed in touch with Salma, who has acted in television serials like CID and Aahat. He began visiting her home, where she lives with her parents.
Meanwhile, he was removed from his job due to several complaints against him.
Last week, Pathan proposed marriage to Salma, who refused. Then he asked her parents to convince her but they said that she was too young and was concentrating on her career right now.
Pathan, however, continued to enter their house forcibly and threatened Salmaif she refused to marry him.
Unable to bear the harassment, Salma then approached the police. Pathan too landed up at the police station and physically assaulted her. When the cops caught hold of him, he pulled out a pesticide bottle and consumed the liquid. He was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and discharged. He has been arrested on the charges of molestation and assault.
