KANPUR: A 15-year old 'dalit' girl was allegedly raped by a village youth and his three accomplices at gunpoint in Tikurimau village of Unnao district on Saturday.
The incident took place on Saturday evening when the girl had gone out to answer natures call when a youth named Ravindra Yadav and his three aides forcibly dragged her to nearby fields and raped her at gun-point, the police said.
The accused, before fleeing the spot also threatened to kill the girl if she disclosed the incident to anyone. When the girl did not return home, the kin launched a search. The girl was later found lying unconscious in the field. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for primary treatment.
According to girls kin, Ravindra pointed a gun to her head and ordered her to keep quiet. "She began screaming while he and his three accomplices raped her," they said.
The girls parent approached the Bighapur police but cops on duty refused to register a case. "They initially asked for an eyewitness and ignored the charges. Then we approached senior officials on Sunday and they instructed their juniors to look into the matter," said victim's father.
Girl's father, who works as a labourer, said that Ravindra is a spoiled brat and now he and his family members have been receiving threats ever since they registered the rape case.
"Victim's father has lodged an FIR against Ravindra and raids are underway to nab him and his three accomplices, said, Station Officer, Bighapur, adding, the victim has been sent for medical examination.
