COIMBATORE: A 27-year-old woman was burnt to death by her husband near Avanashi, about 40km from here, police said.
They said the man was angry over her repeated admonitions to him over his alleged affair with another woman and went to her parents house at P N Nilayam on the city outskirts last night to bring her back on the pretext of taking her home.
However, he stopped his motorcyle at Nambikapalayam just before Avanashi, doused her with petrol and set her ablaze beofre fleeing the spot.
Passers by who saw the flames and heard her screams took her to a nearby hospital, where she died late last night, they said.
A search is on for the man, police said.
