Beed, Maharashtra:  A doctor has been arrested in the Beed district of Maharashtra for allegedly carrying out an abortion that led to the killing of a pregnant woman.

Dr Sudam Munde was arrested by the district police yesterday.

The victim had four children kids, all of them girls. She reportedly wanted her fifth baby to be a male child. When her sonography reports suggested that she was pregnant with a girl child, she approached Dr Munde to get an abortion done. But she died after she was operated upon.

Beed district has the lowest male-female sex ratio in the age group of 0-six years (801 females as against 1000 male children) as per the 2011 census.
