New Delhi: In a case of dowry death, a woman was pushed by her husband and in-laws from the roof of their residential building. The 27-year-old victim could not survive the impact and died on the spot. The trio has been arrested by the police on Saturday.
The victim was identified as Farzana, the mother of a three-month-old baby. She was pushed from her in-laws’ house situated in Lahori Gate around 9:30 pm on Friday.
The victim’s sister filed a complaint alleging that she was being pressurised by her in-laws to get money from their father in order to buy a new flat.
Farzana’s in-laws claim that her death was a suicidal act and denied all the charges against them. The victim’s family alleges that she was pushed to death by them as they had been torturing her for dowry for some time.
The victim had married Javed one-and-a-half years ago. After a few months of her marriage, her in-laws began to demand dowry.
The police have arrested Farzana’s husband Javed along with her in-laws Khurshid and Hamida. An SDM enquiry has been initiated into the matter, police confirmed.
The recent data by the Delhi Police revealed that a dowry death is reported from the capital every third day.
