Sep 26, 2011: Four boys gang-rape 8-year-old in Punjab village

CHANDIGARH: Four 12 years old boys have raped an eight years old girl in a Punjab village on Saturday night. The profusely bleeding girl has been admitted at a civil hospital at Dhuri and all four boys have been taken into custody. The boys studying in 6 ^{th and} 7 ^th classes had lured the girl and raped her repeatedly. She is studying in class 2 ^nd near the village Kanjhla drain. The dalit family of the girl is very poor.

Kanjhla village's former sarpanch Rattan Kumar' son Basant Kumar, who had got the girl to Dhuri civil hospital said, "Four village kids got the minor girl to a secluded place in the village near the drain on Saturday night at about 8 pm and when the villagers got to know about the heinous crime, the girl was bleeding profusely. He along with others got the girl to hospital, where she is convalescing." Basant said, the girl's family belonging to Bazigar community, is making both ends meet either by begging or indulging in menial jobs.

The poor girl's father said, "We are hardly making both ends meet and now this act of village boys have made our life more miserable." He demanded stern action against the erring boys, who have spoilt the life of a small girl.

Dhuri Sadar police station SHO Shuved Singh said police are working on the complaint of girl's parents and have arrested Jasbir Singh, Narpinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, Kamaljit Singh, all studying at a government school. He said all four of them have been sent to juvenile home at Ludhiana after registering rape case against them.
