NALGONDA: In yet another case of honour killing in Nalgonda district, a 15-year-old tribal girl was killed by her parents as she was found to be in her seventh month of pregnancy. While the foetus was removed with a knife, the girl, Banothu Sunita, was allegedly buried after her parents throttled her to death. This shocking incident took place in Sakrunaik thanda in Devarakonda mandal.
The parents -- Banothu Jabbarlal and Hassi -- were furious after they found that their daughter was pregnant, which was confirmed by a doctor in Devarakonda. They throttled her to death in the house, removed the foetus and cremated both of them in the early hours of Tuesday.
The incident came to light on Wednesday after locals grew suspicious about the whereabouts of Sunita and questioned the parents, who spilled the beans. The couple have three daughters and Sunita is the second among the siblings. Sources said the accused resorted to killing their daughter to protect their family's honour after they came to know that Sunita's brother-in-law, elder sister's husband, allegedly impregnated her.
