The deceased has been identified as Babita, a native of Khurja. She got married to the accused Jeet Singh six years back. "Babita had given birth to three children, including two sons, but due to some reasons the boys died. The couple has a three-year-old daughter," said Chowdhary.
On Friday afternoon, Jeet Singh reached his residence in an inebriated state and started abusing and beating his wife. He then poured kerosene and set her on fire.
