CHANDIGARH : A class X boy allegedly set his girl classmate ablaze after she foiled former's advances made to her at her residence in Murtazapur village of Kurkshetra district on Tuesday afternoon. With more then 55% burns, the victim girl was rushed to Kurusketra's private hospital.
Acting on the statement given by girl, police have started the investigations after registering a case of attempt to murder against boy, who is also a minor at Pehowa police station.
Sources said the incident took place during afternoon hours when her mother was away to Nilokherhi and she was alone in the house. In her statement to duty magistrate, the 14-year-old victim informed that the accused forced entered in her house.
Amid protests, he made an attempt to force himself upon her. As she raised alarm, he set her afire after pouring the kerosene oil on her body. Responding to her cries, the villagers rushed to her house. Accused made a good escape leaving her crying with burns, they added.
She was rushed to a private hospital in Kurukshetra. As her condition was critical she was further referred to the civil hospital for treatment. Officials in Pehowa informed that the accused boy has gone into hiding and police parties are conducting raids on his possible hideouts.
