SURAT: City police have registered a case of abetment to suicide and dowry against the husband and his family members in connection with the death of a 29-year-old woman after she fell from the ninth floor of an apartment at Sarthana on Monday.
Rinku Haresh Hirpara, a resident of Vrajratna residency, had allegedly jumped to her death from the ninth floor. The body was recovered by police with multiple wounds.
Sources said the deceased hailed from Upletha in Rajkot district and had been married to Haresh Hirpara, a teacher with a private school, for the last five years. The couple was childless.
Police said a case under Sections 306 and 498 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the husband and his family members.
