BALAGHAT: A teenage girl was allegedly raped by a sarpanch of Mehkepar village in the district, police said today.
The Sarpanch identified as Prakash Sonvane was booked today after the 19-year-old filed a complaint in Tirodi police station yesterday, Sub-divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) SPS Dabar told reporters here.
According to police, Sonavane allegedly sexually assaulted the girl with the help of his associates Sunil Nakode and Sheela Vatkar a few days back.
No arrests have been made so far, police said.
Local MLA Visheshwar Bhagat today gheraoed the police station demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
