Oct 20, 2012: Man held for raping and circulating MMS of minor

ASANSOL: Police have arrested a finance firm executive in Asansol for allegedly raping a Class XI student five years ago, filming it and posting it on the internet.

The girl is now in final year in college and the accused, 26-year-old Subir Mozumdar, a married man. Police say Subir had an affair with her and in November 2007 lured her to his house where he raped her and made an MMS on his cellphone. Last month, friends of the girl told her that they had seen two video clips of her on the internet. A few days ago, neighbours told her father about the obscene video. He lodged an FIR on Wednesday and police arrested Subir the next night. The girl recorded her statement before a judge on Friday. Police are looking for two 'accomplices' of Subir. 

The victim recorded her statement under 164 to judge in Asansol today. She was also taken to Asansol SD Hospital for medical examinations. The medical examination of the accused was also conducted today. Police is also searching two of his accomlices in this case. Chittaranjan Police has started a case under section 376 and 66 of IPC.

Subrata Ganguly, ADCP (west) of Asansol Durgapur Police Comissionerate said that Chittaranjan Police has acted swiftly after getting the written complain. The main accused has already been arrested and investigations are on, he added.
