SIRSA: Demanding capital punishment, local residents took out a march here in Dabwali sub-division of Sirsa district on Thursday against the accused who allegedly gang-raped a 4-year-old and then dumped her in a sewage pond on Saturday.
The protesters were demanding that the case be taken up by in a fast track court. The protesters handed over a memorandum to the Dabwali sub-divisional magistrate. "Capital punishment is the better option for the rapists, both of whom are drug addicts," said Anuradha, a protester.
Notably, on January 26, Pawan and Vikas alias Vikki kidnapped a 4-year-old girl, who was playing near her house, and raped her at a scheduled place. When the girl fell unconscious, they dumped her in a sewage pond. The police recovered the body from the pond after pumping out the water on Monday.
SDM Subhash Sheoran assured the protesters that strict action would be taken against the accused.
