Feb 1, 2013: Minor gang-raped in Chhattishgarh

JASHPUR: In yet another case of rape, a 15-year-old tribal girl was gang-aped by three youths including a minor, under the jurisdiction of Tapkara area in Jashpur district on on Wednesday evening. 

Tapkara police have arrested all the four accused identified as Arun Manjhi, 19, Sahindra Ram, 21, Raju Sahay, 15, Mayank Sahay, 15. The minor girl is an orphan and lives with her younger brother in Tapkara. 

She works as a domestic help in nearby household. The incident took place when she was returning from a household at around 6 in the evening and the four youths pounced on her dragging her to an isolated place and repeatedly raped her. 

According to inspector P S Netam, Tapkara police station, the victim stated that she was raped till four hours by the three youths while Mayank stood back and didn't rape her. 

She was left alone at the isolated place around 10 pm, after which, she somehow managed to return home. Police said that the girl reported the incident to her relatives, who registered a complaint on Thursday. Police have arrested all the accused immediately. In her complaint, the girl said that her mouth was forcibly covered for four hours, so that she shouldn't be heard by the nearby people. 

The girl has undergone medical check-up and her condition is stated to be stable. A case has been registered under Section 363, 366, 506, 376 (2G) of the Indian Penal Code, against the accused. 

Jashpur has not only been witnessing a number of trafficking cases of minor girls and women but has lately emerged as a common place for rape cases.
