BANGALORE: A 19-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three unidentified men in the bushes near the railway tracks under the Lingarajapuram flyover on Thursday night.

The victim, who stays nearby, was on her way to take a bus to Shivajinagar to meet her sister. Around 10.15pm, three men attacked, gagged and dragged her into the bushes. They raped her repeatedly. When she tried to resist, they assaulted her. She managed to wriggle free and went towards Pillanna Garden where some residents saw her and called her father, a scrap merchant.

The father took her home and on Friday morning, he took her to the Dr BR Ambedkar Hospital for treatment. The doctors alerted KG Halli police, who registered a case under Section 376-G of the IPC. She was sent to Bowring Hospital for a medical test and its report is awaited.

The girl told police she can identify one rapist who she remembers seeing near her house. She is a school dropout and has three sisters and two brothers.

Meanwhile, police have sought a psychiatrist's help as she is disturbed by the incident. They also said the girl was changing her statement. At one point, she reported rape but later changed it to assault.
