BANGALORE: A six-year old girl was raped and murdered in a temple auditorium under construction in KG Halli in Bangalore East on Friday evening. Her parents, migrant construction workers, are in shock as this happened just a few days after they came to Bangalore.
The girl was at home looking after her younger brother . When the parents came back in the evening, they found the girl missing from the tent where they stayed. After three hours of searching, her body was found in a room in the building under construction.
Her father Venkappa said they were working at the construction site at Ramdev Garden in KG Halli. He and his wife left for work early in the morning. "When we came back home at 3pm, she wasn't there. We began searching for her. At 6pm, we found her body in the building," he said.
The neighbours told police the girl used to go the Sri Narasimha Temple nearby to receive the food distributed in the evening. She was seen going to the temple on Saturday too. The post mortem revealed she'd been raped before being strangled to death. "We suspect someone took her from the temple to the construction site. We suspect some of the workers living in the colony and are questioning them," said an investigating officer.
