Karimganj, Assam: A woman, alleged to be insane, bit her new-born daughter to death in Assam's Cachar district, police said today.
The woman, Amela Begum Laskar, had given birth to her daughter 18 days ago at Ganganagar area under Kachudaram police outpost of the district and last night she locked herself in a room.
Laskar's husband and two other daughters heard her shouts from inside the room and along with the neighbours broke open the door to find the child dead with scar marks on her neck.
Police arrived on the spot and managed to overpower the woman who, according to neighbours, allegedly turned insane after giving birth to the third daughter, sources added.
