Pune: A 19-year-old construction labourer was arrested for raping a three-year-old girl at a building site on Senapati Bapat Road on Sunday evening. Accused Ranjit Bashisht Ram was known to the victim's father.
The rape occurred in the girl's hutment when her mother was out. Sub-Inspector S K Sakhare said, "The victim's parents were alerted after they heard her cries.
They went inside to check, but the accused fled taking advantage of the commotion that the situation had given rise to. Other labourers nabbed Ram after he returned to the construction site on Monday morning." Ram, originally from Bihar, was booked on charges of rape.
