GREATER NOIDA: A girl was hurriedly cremated by her family members in a Greater Noida village early Friday morning, pointing towards a suspected honour killing. When local people came to know about this, they informed police who reached the village late at night.
SSP Praveen Kumar said the incident took place in Bhaipur-Brahampur under Rabupura police station. "The girl had earlier eloped twice and had recently been brought back to the village. The family claims she committed suicide but we will probe the case as we suspect it to be an honour killing," he said.
"The girl was studying in a Bulandshahr college and reportedly had an affair with a boy. Her family had filed a missing complaint after which cops brought her back to the village," said SP (rural), Ashok Kumar.
