New Delhi: A 21-year-old newly-wed woman committed suicide by jumping off the third floor of her house here due to harassment for dowry, police said on Thursday. Her husband and his five relatives were arrested.
The incident was reported from south Delhi's Green Park Extension area around 11.30 p.m. on Monday.
"She resided in a rented accommodation along with her husband Dheeraj and in-laws," said a police official.
Preliminary investigation suggested that she jumped from the terrace of the building as she was apparently disturbed over her in-laws harassing her for dowry, said the official.
"She died in hospital. No suicide note was recovered," added the official.
The woman's father gave a police complaint alleging that his daughter was being harassed by her in-laws for dowry that led her to take such a step.
