FAIZABAD: A 40-year-old man killed his wife and four minor daughters in Purkalandar police station area of Faizabad on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The accused was later identified as Deen Dayal Tiwari (40), who was later arrested by the police.
Visibly complacent Tiwari cited suspicion of betrayal by Siyalali(35), his wife as the reason for her murder. Then what prompted him to kill his daughters -- Renu(10), Riya(8), Gunjan(6) and Mahima(4), Tiwari said since he was to go behind bars after the murder of his wife, his daughters might face problem of surviving safely in the society.
According to reports, Tiwari along with his wife and four daughters was sleeping at his house in Muiakapoorpur village of Tiwari ka Purwa hamlet of Faizabad district.
At around 3.00 am, he woke up and took an axe and hit his wife Siyalali on her head. After Siyalali fell down, he took out two knives and stabbed her to death. Hearing their mother's shriek, the daughters woke up. However, nothing deterred Tiwari and went on to stab four of his daughters one by one.
In the meantime, hearing the noise, neighbours woke up and rushed to Tiwari's house. By this time, the neighbours had come to know that Tiwari had killed his family members. Assuming that he was not in a sound state of mind, the villagers did not try to open the door. Instead they called the police, which rushed to spot and got the door opened and arrested Tiwari.
The police recovered an axe and two knives used in the crime.
Police quoting Tiwari said that he had been suspecting his wife to be a woman of easy virtue, even though he admitted before the police that he never saw her doing anything wrong nor did he ever hear anything about his wife from anyone. However, this suspicion on his wife went deep into his mind, the police said.
The accused had been planning the murder of his wife for a long time, the police said and added the fact could be corroborated from the recovery of a bag containing a chopper wrapped in a towel from the room.
Tiwari, according to Purkalandar police, had been working as a mechanic in some medical equipment factory in Lucknow till only recently. However, Tiwari left the job in Lucknow about over a month back and was working somewhere else in Faizabad, the police said.
