PUNE: The Loni Kalbhor police late on Thursday night arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly raping his married colleague and circulating a video clip of the act. The incident took place between September 26 and November 1 this year.
Speaking to TOI, inspector Suhas Garud of the Loni Kalbhor police station said that the victim and the accused were employees of a private company in Chakan. "In September, the company paid the victim her dues of around Rs 40,000. To celebrate this, she had given a party to all her colleagues. But the accused had not attended the party," Garud said.
He said that the accused asked the victim for a separate party for him and called her to a restaurant near Vadkinala on September 26. "Threatening her with a sharp weapon, he raped her at a nearby lodge. He also filmed the act on his cellphone and threatened her that he would circulate it," Garud said.
Garud added that the accused also blackmailed the victim and extorted Rs 11,000 from her. "When the victim came to know that the video clip had already been circulated in the company, she came to the police station with her husband and lodged a complaint," Garud said.
He said that the police arrested the accused based on the complaint. He has been sent to police custody till November 8.
