, TNN | Jul 30, 2011, 12.57AM IST
MUMBAI: Television actor Ekta Tiwari (28), who stars in serial 'Tere Mere Sapne', has filed a molestation complaint against her former driver, Sajid Said. Ekta has alleged that Sajid barged into her Mira Road home on Thursday and molested her.

The actor said she was uncomfortable with Sajid's advances and had sacked him on July 15. The driver is absconding. Ekta said Sajid Tiwari (28), the lead female actor in the Hindi serial 'Tere Mere Sapne' on Star Plus had been assigned Sajid (26) as the driver by the production unit three and a half months back to drive her from home to the serial set in Naigaon.

Sajid, a resident of Firdoz Apartment, Ganga Complex in Mira Road's Naya Nagar used to pick up Tiwari at 7.30 am and drop her to her residence at around 10.30 pm. Tiwari had started growing uncomfortable with the driver who she felt was getting infatuated with her. Her fears were proved right when Sajid started sending her love messages on her cellphone after she sacked him.

Around 3.30 pm, Ekta was alone at home when Sajid rang the bell to her house and started abusing her. The actor, who was speaking to her friend Chetan Sharma on the phone, opened the door and was shocked to see Sajid. He allegedly pushed her and barged into her flat in Surya Darshan Apartment at Ramdev Park. When Ekta protested, he allegedly tore her clothes and molested her. She was alone in the flat.

Sharma who heard the commotion over the cell immediately rushed to Tiwari's flat along with residents of the building. Sajid, however, managed to flee. She then lodged a complaint with theNavghar police. Said Tiwari, "What happened on Thursday afternoon was a nightmare. I had removed him from job to avoid any trouble. I least expected him to come to my house," said Tiwari.

Though she hardly interacted with Sajid while being driven to work and back, his actions and possessiveness towards her made her uncomfortable.

Police have booked Sajid booked under sections 354 (outraging modesty), 452 (trespassing), 504 (insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Jul 28, 2011: 'Take Rs 20, do whatever you want with my daughter'

Mid-Day.com, Updated: July 28, 2011 12:25 IST
Mumbai:  When Ghulam Mohammad Hamid Khan (47), decided to abandon Mumbai and board a train for his UP hometown from the Mankhurd railway station, he decided to travel light.

The first baggage that he decided to get rid of was none other than his 9-year-old daughter Roshni.

He didn't have to look far- along came Irfan Sheikh (21), a drug addict.

Not only did the desperate father give the addict permission to have his way with her, he also paid the man to buy himself some drugs.

Mankhurd police Sub-Inspector Popat Salunkhe said, "Hussain was unemployed, and his wife had thrown him out of their house. He wanted to make a fresh start in Jabalpur. He was in the habit of abducting his own children, and using them as leverage to force money out of her."

He added, "On July 17, he took Roshni with him to the Mankhurd railway station. He waited for three hours, expecting his wife to arrive there to retrieve their child. However, Hussain's wife did not turn up. Desperate to leave for his hometown, he started looking for an alternative means to get rid of his daughter."

"He accosted Irfan at the station, and decided to dump Roshni in his custody. He gave Irfan the licence to do anything he wanted with the girl. When Irfan refused to accept the responsibility, Hussain pleaded with him, even bribing him with a sum of Rs. 20, asking him to purchase drugs of his choice," informed Sub-Inspector Salunkhe.

According to the police report, Irfan then took Roshni into a dark alley, where he attempted to rape her. The terrified girl screamed, at which he clamped her mouth shut, causing her to lose consciousness and raped her.

After having his way with her, he strangulated her with a dupatta, and threw her body into an open drain. The Mankhurd police found Roshni's stripped body on July 18, and began their investigations, trying to identify her.

Mother shocked
Roshni's mother identified her daughter at the Rajawadi hospital, divulging that Hussain had taken Roshni away. "Roshni's mother had not lodged a missing complaint, thinking that she was with her father. Roshni's mother's statement made us certain of Hussain's involvement," said Salunkhe.

Mankhurd police then sent two teams to UP and Ajmer, to search for Hussain. "We nabbed Hussain at Jabalpur station in UP, and brought him to Mumbai," said a police officer.
During his interrogation, Hussain confessed that he had handed over his daughter to Irfan, because he wanted to get rid of her and teach his wife a lesson.

He had left Roshni at different stations on previous occasions as well. We nabbed Irfan, also a resident of Mankhurd, who confessed to the crimes of rape and murder. We will now produce both culprits at court," informed Salunkhe.

Jul 23, 2011: Man kidnaps & kills girlfriend for demanding marriage

Dwaipayan Ghosh | Jul 23, 2011, 04.59am IST
NEW DELHI: Pushed into a corner by his girlfriend, who threatened to inform his family about their relationship if he refused to marry her, a 21-year-old youth kidnapped and murdered her. For nearly a month, the girl's family could not trace her. On Friday, the killer was arrested.

The accused, Mohammad Gulfam, is a resident of Kacchi Khajuri in northeast Delhi and the son of a businessman who owns a nickel-polishing unit at Usmanpur.

The arrest was made on a complaint filed by the girl's mother, Alma, who said her 17-year-old daughter had been missing since June 25.

Acting on information that the girl was last seen with Gulfam, the police interrogated him, but he tried to mislead the police by giving contradicting versions. "On sustained examination, Gulfam broke down and confessed to his involvement in the kidnapping and murder," DCP (North East)Sanjay Kumar Jain said.

Gulfam confessed he had been in a relationship with the victim for the past eight months. The duo had even made a trip to Ajmer Sharif last month to offer prayers, but in the end he decided against marrying her on the pretext that she was poor. The girl's father is a menial worker who supports a family of eleven.

Gulfam expressed his inability to marry her, but the shocked girl insisted he marry her at the earliest. When the victim learned that Gulfam was about to get engaged to someone else, she threatened to go to his house on the day of his marriage and expose his duplicity. To avoid such a situation, Gulfam decided to murder her.

"He allegedly bought a butcher's knife and then coaxed the victim to accompany him to Hapur where, he said, one of his maternal aunts would arrange their marriage. When they reached Simbawali in rural Ghaziabad, "he took her into a sugarcane field and slit her neck with the cleaver, which he had been carrying all along. Gulfam returned to Delhi the same night," Jain said.

A case of murder was registered by the Ghaziabad police while a case of kidnapping was subsequently lodged in Delhi. Information provided by Gulfam helped the police to recover the knife, the motorcycle used to transport the victim to the scene of the crime and the victim's blood-stained clothes.

Jul 23, 2011: Godman booked for rape, extortion

Alka Panse, TNN | Jul 23, 2011, 12.39am IST
NAGPUR: A 52-year-old godman was booked for raping and extorting money from a 32-year-old woman who had approached him to get her marriage fixed.

After the shocking incident came to light, enraged residents of Mominpura dragged out the 'Baba' and thrashed him black and blue late on Thursday night. The accused, Hajrat Mohammad Valiulla Samirulla, a resident of Bakramandi in Mominpura, is now undergoing treatment at Mayo Hospital.

According to the police, the victim, who is the youngest of eleven siblings, was rejected by many boys while her parents were trying to fix her marriage. Hence, someone suggested she should approach the godman.

The victim told the cops that her siblings accompanied her when she first met the Baba the first time in the first week of June. The Godman told the victim to come alone with some clothes on June 18.

"The woman followed the Baba's directions and reached his residence at around 7pm. He first performed some rituals and sprinkled water on her. He also uttered some 'mantras' on her," said investigating officer PSI Ashok Rewatkar from Tehsil police station.

The complaint lodged early on Friday morning said the woman was 'hypnotized' by the godman. "I was physically present but mentally absent, and didn't realize what happened then," said the woman in her complaint. She added that the godman also clicked some obscene pictures of her and showed them to her while she was leaving his house. "It was then that she realized what the Baba did with her," said Rewatkar.

The police said that being afraid, the woman did not tell the incident to anyone. After a few days, the Baba called her to take her clothes back, which she had left there on June 18. The woman went and she was raped again. This time the Baba threatened her and forced himself upon her again. He also took her snaps, said the cop.

Frightened by this, the victim started avoiding him and did not meet him again. "But the Baba started messaging her to come to his place. When she refused, he started threatening and blackmailing her using her objectionable photographs," said Rewatkar.

The godman also demanded Rs 30,000 from the girl and asked her to bring the valuables collected by her parents for her marriage. However, the girl did not accede to these demands.

Unable to tolerate the torture, the woman then told her problem to her family members on Thursday evening. Some family members went to Tehsil police station while a few others reached the Baba's house.

The neighbours and family members dragged the Baba out and thrashed him. Tehsil cops reached the spot some time later and since the Baba's condition was not well, he was rushed to Mayo Hospital.

Tehsil police registered offences of rape, threatening and extortion against the godman.
