NEW DELHI: A cook allegedly raped a maid-servant at a house in south-east Delhi's Greater Kailash areaon Wednesday night. According to the police, both of them worked for the same employer. The accused Jagdish, 30, was arrested soon after the victim, 35, informed the police about the incident by making a PCR call early on Thursday morning. Jagdish was immediately arrested, the police said.
"The victim is a widow and has been working at the Delhi residence of a Chandigarh-based businessman for the past two months while Jagdish has been working for the same businessman for several years. On the day of the incident, the businessman's children were present in the house while he was away in Chandigarh," a senior police official said. A medical test of the victim confirmed rape.
Primary investigations revealed that Jagdish mostly stayed in Chandigarh and used to come to his employer's Delhi residence once or twice a year. The victim hails from West Bengal while Jagdish, who is married, is from Garhwal.
