NEW DELHI: A 15-year-old girl was abducted in front of her mother on a wet afternoon at Ranhaulain west Delhi last week but she had a miraculous escape - the kidnappers' car got stuck on a potholed road and local people handed one of the three kidnappers to police.
Another accused has surrendered in court while the third one is absconding. They have been identified as Prateek Pandey, Deepak and Surender.
"The victim works at a washing unit in Rajouri Garden. She and her mother were returning home and walking on Canal Road at Ranhaula around 7.15pm when the incident took place. The accused first made obscene remarks and when her mother protested, they pulled the girl into their Santro and tried to drive away," said additional CP (west) V Renganathan.
Her mother ran behind the car, shouting for help. "The car could not pick up speed as the road leading to Najafgarh had many potholes. Passers-by rushed to rescue the girl. As the car got stuck in mud, the accused abandoned it and fled," said an official. But one of them, Pandey, was caught
