PATNA: A clandestine, and irresponsible, affair may prove dangerous. A city girl learnt it the hard way, but she is no more as she died after anabortion attempt went awry and her boyfriend allegedly dumped her on the road to fend for herself.

Reena (name changed) as usual left her home in Salimpur Ahra locality around 3 pm on Thursday to attend classes at a coaching institute on Nala Road. She, however, didn't return by 5 pm, and family members turned panicky. As they began calling her friends, one of them Tanya said Reena had fallen unconscious on Makhania Kuan Road and her friends were taking her to a hospital.

Reena's father rushed to the spot, took his daughter to a nursing home in Salimpur Ahra and later shifted her to another hospital at Rajendra Nagar. The 20-year-old, however, died around 10 pm.

On Friday, Reena's father lodged an FIR in the Kadamkuan police station, pointing a needle of suspicion towards one Rohit Raj for the mysterious death of his daughter. Rohit had illicit relations with Reena, he alleged.

Police teams led by SP (City) Shivdeep Lande and DSP (Town) Ramakant Prasad swung into action and arrested Tanya and her friend Mukesh Kumar. They did not take much time to spill the beans: Reena was pregnant and her boyfriend, Rohit, along with Tanya and Mukesh had on Thursday taken her to Buddha Burn Hospital at Makhania Kuan for abortion. Dr Ritu Choudhary, who runs the hospital, allegedly performed a surgery on the girl. She was helped by compounders Deepak Kumar and Suibal Nag and nurses Kiran Devi and Renu Devi.

However, the SSP said, the girl's condition deteriorated during the surgery and the doctor, nurses and Rohit dumped her in an unconscious state on the road. Tanya was then persuaded to concoct a story and convey it to Reena's father that she had suddenly fallen unconscious, the SSP said.

Seven people have been arrested in this connection. They include Rohit (Kadamkuan), Tanya (Sultanganj), Mukesh (Gandhi Maidan), compounders Deepak and Suibal and nurses Renu and Kiran. However, Dr Choudhary managed to escape and raids are on to arrest her, the SSP said.
