NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by two brothers in the Timarpur area of north Delhi on Wednesday night. The accused, who have been identified as Arif, 29, and Tariq, 25, were business partners of the victim and had recently decided to sever all ties.

The accused abducted the woman from her sister's house and took her to a secluded place near Yamuna Bridge in Wazirabad area on their motorcycle where they raped her. The police have arrested both the accused.

"The victim filed a complaint stating that on the night of July 27, the accused took her to Wazirabad and raped her in an isolated place. A medical examination confirmed rape. Both the accused have been arrested," said a senior police officer from North district.

The victim, who was separated from her husband, had been living alone with her daughter. She had started a business with Arif, in which she had invested Rs. 1.5 lakh. After the business shut down she told the accused she wanted her money back. He had reportedly returned Rs 1 lakh but refused to return the remaining amount.

On the night of the incident, Arif called the woman to the Shashtri Park metro station on the pretext of returning the money. Cops said they reportedly had a heated argument here.

When the victim walked out of the house, the accused called his brother Tariq and made her sit on the bike between both of them. In her statement, the victim said she was taken to an isolated place in Wazirabad area where the accused took turns to rape her after which they fled the spot.
