BHOPAL: A minor girl who went missing from Bhopal close to a year and half back was sold thrice before being rescued and sent to her parents. The girl was taken to Harda where she was forced to beg and was later sold to a man and another woman in Indore, who police suspects is involved with trafficking of girls to northern states.

Police has claimed that though the girl was beaten up and tortured she was not raped or sexually abused.

Police managed to rescue the girl from Indore after she managed to call her mother few months back, who in turn informed the police.

Police said the 14-year-old resident of Shankar Nagar was lured by a youth, Omkar of the same locality who took her along with him on October 20, 2011 and later sold her to a woman in a train for Rs 5000. The woman identified as Parvati took the girl to Handiya in Harda district where she resided with her two sons Karan and Charan.

The woman and her sons confined the girl to their home and later sold her off to a man locally known as Baba whose identity is yet to be ascertained. Baba had after some time sold the girl to an Indore-based woman, Sunita for Rs 10,000, police said.

Sunita engaged the minor in her home as a maid and was planning to sell her off at a good price. She invited people who would have a look at her. Police said Sunita and her accomplice Suresh would take money for marrying girls in Rajasthan.

While in Sunita's custody, the girl managed to call her mother one day, who promptly informed the police about it. Sunita on suspecting that the girl had called her parents sensed trouble and made the girl to sign some documents, which stated that she had willingly accompanied her as her parents abused and beat her up regularly.

Sunita, Suresh and Omkar have been caught while Parvati and her two sons are missing and the police team that went to Harda had returned empty handed, said city superintendent of policeRashmi Mishra.

There are multiple bruise marks on the minor's body that shows the ill-treatment that she had undergone while she was with them for three months in Harda district. The girl had told the police that in Harda, the mother son trio used to pierce iron rods in her body.

Police said Sunita who claims to run a marriage bureau was waiting for the girl to turn 18 so that she could sell her on the guise of marriage in Rajasthan.

Sunita lived with her husband and kids but the police said she was into the alleged trade with her accomplice and Suresh, but her family members including her husband were not involved in it.

Sunita and Suresh had absconded when the police went to rescue the minor. But on basis of mobile numbers of the duo, who were frequently changing their locations to avoid facing action, the police caught them.

Ironically, the minor's parents had lodged a missing persons report soon after she went missing more than a year back, but she could be tracked and rescued after she informed about her whereabouts to her parents.
