HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old housewife lodged a complaint with the Amberpet police alleging that she was raped by two men from her neighbourhood in the early hours of Sunday.

The victim is from Durga Nagar in Amberpet. She is married to a Setwin bus conductor and the couple has three children. The incident happened at around 1 am on Sunday when only the victim and her one-and-half-year-old son were at home.

At 1 am, the victim left her house to go to the bathroom which is located in front of the house. Ilyas Ahmed, a tailor, and Afaq Ahmed, a welder from Durga Nagar, noticed the victim walking back into the house and followed her. "According to the complainant, the two forcibly entered the house and forced themselves on her. When she raised a hue and cry, neighbours woke up and the duo fled from the spot," Amberpet inspector (Detective) AC Balagangi Reddy said.

On Sunday morning, the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint against the two alleging that she was sexually assaulted by them. Police have booked a case under sections 354 (Assault or use of criminal force to a woman with an intent to outrage her modesty), 452 (House trespass, having made preparation for causing hurt, assault, etc) and 506 r/w 34 (Criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The victim has been sent to Maternity Hospital, Petlaburj, for medical examination. "Based on the medical report, if required, we will alter the sections," the inspector said.
