Nagapattinam: A woman murdered her husband with the help of her sister, after they found that he allegedly had illicit relationships with other women inNagapattinam area. Police arrested the two women on Sunday and remanded them in judicial custody.
The victim, Arivalagan, 35, residing in Maraimalai Nagar 6th street in Nagapattinam was murdered by his wife Amarajothi, 30 and her elder sister Roopavathi, 36. Arivalagan was a government employee working as a road worker in the highways department.
Police said that Roopavathi was residing near her sister's house with her two children after she separated from her husband Rajendran. On Saturday, Roopavathi informed the police that Arivalagan was found murdered inside his house with injuries on his body.
Police said the sisters had planned the murder in such a manner that they did not suspect the duo. Police said the sisters murdered Arivalagan as he allegedly had illegal contacts with many women. Amarajothi had even condemned her husband for his attitude. But he continued his illicit relationships with other women. So, she decided to kill her husband. Hence, she executed her plan with a help of her sister Roopavathi on Saturday afternoon. They smothered him with a pillow and slit his throat to kill him. Then, Amarajothi went to Nagore in the evening with her children, while Roopavathi went for work. As per plan, Roopavathi returned home on Saturday night and pretended as if she was shocked on seeing the dead body of Arivalagan.
However, during investigation, police suspected the role of Amarajothi and Roopavathi. Further investigation revealed the shocking information that the duo had indeed murdered Arivalagan.
Police registered a case against Amarajothi and Roopavathi under Section 302 of the IPC and arrested the two sisters on Sunday afternoon. Later in the evening, they were produced in theNagapattinam court and remanded in judicial custody at the special prison for women in Trichy.
